Social Selling does Impact Revenue – new study shows!

A new study “Social Media and Sales Quota”, was just released by Jim Keenan of A Sales Guy Consulting and Barbara Giamanco, Social Centered Selling.

The big question from Senior Sales Management has been…

Does Social Media actually impact sales?

With this question in mind, Barbara and Jim, surveyed 511 sales people to see what they had to say.

Here are some of the findings:

  • 72.6% of sales people who use social media in their sales process outperformed their selling peers, and exceeded quota 23% more often.
  • Those not using social media (21.7%) said they either did not see the value (18.9%) or did not understand it (45%).
  • 75% of respondents stated they never received any training in the effective use of social media.
  • LinkedIn is the #1 site for sales activities.

The results of the survey continues to support the empirical evidence that Social Selling is working to increase sales.

The biggest opportunities continue to be the lack a formalized Social Selling Training. In the absence of formalized best practices training, sales people are left to “figure it out themselves”.
